The 1-Gigawatt (GW) Campus in Visakhapatnam, India is one of the country’s most significant industrial infrastructure investments, developed to increase renewable energy manufacturing capacity, support clean energy production, and strengthen India’s rapidly expanding solar industry. The project plays a critical role in advancing the nation’s renewable energy goals and enhancing large-scale solar manufacturing capability.

Project Description

  • The 1-Gigawatt (GW) Campus in Visakhapatnam, India involved the development of large-scale renewable energy manufacturing facilities, advanced production units, supporting infrastructure, and associated industrial development works across the Visakhapatnam region. Designed to support high-volume solar module manufacturing and accommodate growing clean energy demands, the project required complex engineering solutions and precise coordination within a rapidly developing industrial environment.

  • Construction was carried out while maintaining strict industrial safety protocols, advanced planning, and continuous stakeholder coordination. JG Building Group contributed to the successful delivery of this landmark project through the execution of critical civil and infrastructure works.

Scope of Involvement for JG Building Group

JG Building Group was engaged to deliver key civil, structural, and support infrastructure works as part of the Melbourne Metro Rail Expansion, ensuring compliance with Victorian transport standards and international rail construction best practices.

Key Scope Areas:

  • Execution of civil works for manufacturing buildings, production halls, equipment foundations, and structural support systems.

  • Construction of industrial floor systems including reinforced slabs, drainage networks, and alignment foundations for manufacturing lines.

  • Utility infrastructure and protection works involving power distribution, water supply, compressed air systems, and telecommunications networks.

  • Development of facility access infrastructure including internal circulation roads, logistics areas, and service corridors.

  • External development works including road construction, utility corridors, and industrial integration measures.

  • Civil interface coordination for electrical, mechanical, and MEP systems.

  • Implementation of comprehensive safety management, quality assurance, and environmental compliance processes.

Project Outcome:

The 1-Gigawatt (GW) Campus in Visakhapatnam, India was successfully delivered as a high-capacity, modern renewable energy manufacturing facility, significantly strengthening solar production capability and supporting India’s long-term clean energy and industrial growth objectives.
